Who Are The Romeos?

The Romeos – Let Go Tonight

There are more than a few groups calling themselves The Romeos, including one with Leon Huff and Lamont Dozier but, these Romeos aren’t any of them.  We can find very little about them, no wiki, nothing much at AllMusicGuide but, since there is an Internet, they do have a web page, here.  This 1980 album, Rock and Roll and Love and Death is not even available on their site but, you can get it used on Discogs.  So, anyway, this is pretty obscure.  We chose this song, Let Go Tonight, because it is the only one we have ever bothered to listen to off this album that we have no idea how we acquired.  But, also, because it is a super catchy little new Wave ditty and kinda kinky, too.  It is uncertain just what they won’t “let go tonight” and the song is somewhat grammatically confusing as well.  It is definitely about sex though, weird sex: “I’ve got a love that’s burning, It’s burning right out of control, I’ll satisfy your yearning, just me and you and these other boys that you know”  goes the inescapable ear worm of a chorus.  So, yeah weird.  But, as long time Imaginary Readers know, we love weird and hope you do too.
