Lincoln Logs by The Great Plains

Song of the Day   “For the People, By the People, Yeah!”  In honor of Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday which is still sorta celebrated in Infinite Jones’ home state of Illinois, here is a cheeky little rocker from semi-legendary Ohio band The Great Pains.  This is originally from their 1984 album Born in a Barn  but, …

Song of the Day:

MArti Jones – Follow You All Over the World A quiet, understated, heart-breakingly beautiful, lost classic from Ms. Jones‘ 1985 album Unsophisticated Time.  Produced by her husband, Don Dixon.  Perfect for a Sunday morning. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Song of the Day

The Feelies – Slipping (Into Something) The Feelies are masters of dynamics and control.   This song, from their 1986 album The Good Earth, builds from dead calm to full blown rave-up while making it seem easy.  It is both soothing and thrilling.  A neat trick.  Enjoy. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Song of the Day:

Charles Mingus – west Coast Ghost We here at Infinite Jones are BIG Charles Mingus fans.  This is from his 1957 album East Coasting.  West Coast Ghost moves deftly from   soothing to exhilarating and is a great example of how Mingus allows his players freedom to improvise within a composition.  Enjoy. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Song of the Day:

Can’t Seem to Get it Through My Head by Green This Rocking Rave-up is from Green‘s 1987 Elaine Mackenzie album on Chicago’s Very Own Pravda Records.   A song about resisting adulthood with all your might.  We at Infinite Jones can identify. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Song of the Day: Check It All Out

A moody, groovy, slightly psychedelic slow jam by Black Heat from their 1974 album No Time to Burn with a still timely message. .—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

Song of the Day, Twofer

I Can’t Get Next to You. Both versions are GREAT! The Mighty Temptations from their 1969 album, Puzzle People.   The Mighty Al Green from Al Green Gets Next to You, 1971. I could never choose.  Which do you prefer?     —————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
