A spacey, psychedelic, ambient slow jam from Johnny Otis’ guitar whiz son Shuggie. Perfect mood music for a quiet Saturday morning. This is from the 1974 album Inspiration Information, later reissued by David Byrne’s Luaka Bop label.
Today’s Video of the Day is Party Anthem Do It Any Way You Wanna by People’s Choice because sometimes you just need a groove. Also, these guys look cool in a very square way somehow. Do it, baby!
Joe Jackson don’t care as long as it’s Friday ’cause that’s the day he gets paid. Uh huh. This Friday Classic is from Joe’s 1979 I’m the Man album. Happy Friday.
Belgian Luc Van Acker was a founding member of Revolting Cocks. He also released several solo albums on Wax Trax! Records. This bellowing, banging, bruiser from his 1986 debut has always been one of our underground dance floor faves. Feel the Love.
This is one of the more mysterious records in the vast Infinite Jones Archives. Gruppo Sportivo is a Dutch Satirical / New Wave group, mildly popular in their home country and known somewhat in Europe but, ignored in the States. Dreamin’ appears on a compilation of their early stuff called Mistakes that was released in the U.S. in 1979, although it seems to be on none of their other records (that we can find – details are sketchy). The song itself is weird and slightly kinky but, an irresistible ear worm. It could easily have been a New Wave hit but, seems not to have been at least outside of the the Netherlands (possibly not even there). A friend of ours somehow had it in his record collection, he was not sure where he got it but, the song became part of our shared musical history and has many fond memories for us. This is, of course, a vinyl rip because what else could it be? Anyway, be prepared once you hear it it will get suck in your head. Enjoy the weirdness and dig the obscurity.
Today’s very special Song of the Day is a very special tribute to a Very Special Lady, the Infinite Tina. We collect “Tina” songs here at Infinite Jones (natch) and this is one of our favorites. Sung by the legendary and infamous, Memphis gonzo garage rocker Tav Falco, it’s a saucy, sassy little number befitting our tributee. This one’s for you baby! The LUV.
We need your help, dear Imaginary Reader. Here at Infinite Jones, you may have noticed, we love Music and, although it may be a fault in our personality we think almost everything can be improved by adding Music. That lead us to try to add a soundtrack to the Marble Maze video below. The trouble is, we came up with three different songs that worked and we could not decide which one is the best. That’s where you come in. Please let us know whicha deese you think works the best.
Our thanks to the original poster, Kaplamino, who has an amazing YouTube site you should definitely visit. You’ll find some incredibly entertaining and complex constructions there. He or she must be a very patient person.
